Hi~
Today, i want to share a little bit about some facts. Before that i tell u my experience..
Last few weeks, I handled a motivation camp at Kem Kaizen. It was a great n successful event, but I was captured by one of the slides showed by the counsellor. Im sure as a counsellor she would have done some research and knowledge about new things happening around us..no doubt.. In that slide, it shows "Most richest man in the world"
At that time, before the slide continue, i said to few of the students at the back, "You'll see..Bill Gates is not at top anymore". Then the student said, "why not? then who?". I said, "You'll see (with a smile)". It makes the students interested to know the content of the slides..
Yes, i know i dont read much..but im lucky to have people around me that always give me new information, which makes me at least knew that the rank has changed, and I hope that the counsellor would share something new.
But then, after she popup one name after another, i feel something not right about the name list ranking.. 5th - Ingvar & family, 4th - Carlos, 3rd - Warren, 2nd - Bill Gates, 1st ?? She said, "Allah swt". Then the students said to me, "Waah...you're right la miss, he is not the one..hehe..". Err...then i wait for some answers from the counsellor..um..after that she changed to the next slides without any comment on that slide...is that all?? She changed a fact/info n that's all?
Im not sure what u guys think but for me, that's so inappropriate. Yes, its true Allah is on top of everything....above all.. I'm quite impress though at the first time, because she shows smthing different. But at least she need to explain n clarify the exact information. She was telling WRONG information to the students..what if the students take that in their mind then tell to other people..shame on me as their lecturers, shame on my company! They wont say, "Cmni ke counsellor ajar?" tp they would say, "Cmni students awk? Ini student K***M?" Do u want to know why i said that? what's wrong with the slide info? Okay, lets see...
- The tittle. "Top 5 richest man in the world". Allah is the most richest in the universe..nothing can be compare to HIM, and HE is not a 'man' or 'people'.
- The rank. She has changed the rank. Ok, let's say she dont know the latest ranking, at least after the slide, she should have clarify it to the students. If according to the last year ranking, yes, Bill Gates was at the 1st. followed by Warren, Carlos, and Ingvar.. Sbg seorang pendidik, we should tell the truth even if it's not really important in our life..but it always happen, simple things gives big impact to someone life..
- The latest rank. Even though she dont know about the latest info. Dont tell the students wrong info. "Ok, ini la latest info psal org2 yang plg kaya di dunia" when u actually rank it wrongly then u dont know the latest ranking. The camp was in May 2008. Bill Gates is not in the first place anymore.
- Accept. And please la ready to accept other people opinion. She is a counsellor and yet she dont know how to give chance to other people to share their thoughts. Shame on her.. There were 2 other lecturers there, me n another guy lecturer. But for the whole session she have been conducted, lack of spirit n fillers..lack of extra information, just read exactly what on the slide...even the students can read the slide..she didnt explain, and she didnt give other lecturers a chance to clarify on the slide. I raised my hand n called her name to correct the info about the richest men tu, but totally ignored me..hoho...she is SOO a 'counsellor'. For other slides are not so much info, more to ayat goreng about attitude n positive behaviors but still, not many example given to the student..read everything on the slide n end of module. =P
I dont want to condem anybody here (i dont even state her name okay.. =P ) but moral of the story..do some research b4 I explain something facts to the students..if u know, share with them but if u dont know or not sure, dont act like u know everything, tell them u are not sure, and ask them if they have extra info they want to add or u can say, "I'll update with u later".
Why? let's say u dont know then u act like u know, then the info u told them is wrong, if some of them know the truth or the facts later (after u told them the wrong info without clarify with them), they WILL NOT respect u anymore.....and it's hard to teach students if they lost their respect to lecturers. That's y, it is very important for me to gain students respect especially when majority of the students are nearly my age..

The who’s the richest person in the world? If you answered Bill Gates, then you’re still stuck in the past.
According to Forbes Magazine’s The World’s Billionaires List 2008, the World’s Richest Man is the magnanimous investor and a Berkshire Hathaway CEO, Warren Buffett. His fortune is an estimated $62 billion, up $10 billion from last year.
The world’s second-richest man is Mexican telecom tycoon Carlos Slim Helú, with an estimated net worth of $60 billion.
Gates goes to the third, with estimated net worth of $58 billion. He would have been richer than or perhaps as rich as Buffett if Microsoft had not made an unsolicited Yahoo! bid in early February.
